COLLEGES WITH CLASSICS PROGRAMS

A list of certification programs in the United States can be found at the National Latin Teacher Recruitment website. Below are programs offered in South Carolina, the Southeast region, or via distance education. Potential teachers of Latin who do not have a degree in education should consider alternative certification via the SC State Dept. of Education.

SOUTH CAROLINA

College of Charleston -- Has a Master of Education degree in Latin. The school offers two undergraduate degrees in the department of Classics: the A.B. degree for those with an interest in Greek and Latin language, and the B.A. degree for students with a primary interest in Greek and Roman culture and civilization.

Furman University -- offers a B.A. degree with a concentration in Latin.

University of South Carolina -- The master's program in Latin is due to reopen soon. The Comparative Literature department offers a Ph.D. program with a concentration in Latin. For more information, visit the department webpage.
